Hypermobility isn’t always obvious at first. It is a joints ability to move beyond a normal range, the surrounding muscles then have to work extra hard to try and stabilise the joints. Simple things like standing or sitting up can be challenging and lead to sore muscles. Hypermobile people have a genetic difference in their collagen and connective tissues, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Their connective tissue yields to loads more easily but returns to its original length much more slowly (it stays stretched for longer).
Bendy people have a loss of stability and motor control. Less support for their joints. Potential dislocation of joints at end range. Hypermobile bodies lack adequate tension, which makes it difficult to know where the body is. Bendy bodies get fatigued much more quickly and can be sore after exercise.
